NETWORK: A network is a connection of two or more computers connected together to communicate and share resources e.g. information. Components of networks:

1) Network Media 

2) Network Processor 

3) Network Software 

4) Network Topology 

5) Network Architecture

 1) Network Media: - Network media refers to the communication channels used to interconnect systems in a network. The Examples of Network media includes coaxial cable, twisted pair cables and optical fiber cables used in wired networks, and radio waves used in wireless data communications networks. 

2) Network Processor: - Network Processor is a hardware component which helps to transfer the data from source to destination in a network. For example modems, hubs, bridges etc… 

3) Network Software: - Network Software is a collection of programs that contains several programming techniques. Ex: - TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol), FTP (File Transfer Protocol) e.tc 

4) Network Topology: - It represents the structure of a network Ex: - BUS topology, RING topology, MESH topology, STAR topology. 

5) Network Architecture: - It represents connection between various computers in an environment. Ex: - LAN, MAN, WAN.

 Advantages of Networks: 

1. It provide powerful Communication media

 2. Share files and computing resources 

3. It has an ability to share Hardware and Software 

4. It provides Security 

5. It has features to Transfers files with rapid speed

7. Networking provides the function of Back-up

 Disadvantages of Networks: 

1. Breakdowns and possible loss of Resources 

2. Expensive to Build 

3. Bandwidth Issues 

4. Security threats

 5. Virus transmission
